EYFS: Learning through play for 0-5 year olds

I aim to provide excellent quality learning opportunities which support and extend each individual child's social and intellectual development.  All our learning occurs through play activities and is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for children aged between 0 and 5 years which is used in Pre-Schools and Reception classes.

I provide, plan and resource for a balance of adult and child-initiated activities.

I focus heavily on the three Prime Areas of Learning:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Communication and Language Development

Physical Development

These areas form the foundation for every child's learning.  Children need a secure basis in these three

Prime Areas so that they can go on to learn effectively in the Specific Areas of Learning:

Mathematical Development

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Expressive Arts and Design.

All of my activities are planned to support children's development in the three Prime Areas and to help them develop effective characteristics of learning which will aid them in becoming life-long learners.  I want the children to be engaged in learning, be motivated to learn and to think creatively and critically.
